"SOUTH AFRICA: Troop deployment to DRC and Eritrea extended"
JOHANNESBURG, 22 Jul 2004 (IRIN) - South African peacekeeping troops are to stay on in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Eritrea for another year, a government official told IRIN."The extension to the troop deployment - over 1,200 in the DRC and four military observers in Eritrea - is effective from 1 April 2004 to 1 March 2005," defence ministry spokesperson Sam Makhwanazi said.
