he Tigray Peoples Liberation Front regime in Ethiopia lived on politics of deception and cheap lies since it came to power. Currently, it is trying to do everything possible to divert the attention of Oromo and other peoples in Ethiopia as well as the international public from the current political situation in Oromia. It is making futile attempt to discolour the true political picture in Oromia, particularly the Oromo students’ movement and the armed liberation struggle being waged by the Oromo Liberation Front.
Oromo students in Naqamte, Ambo, Gudar, Beddellee, Gimbi, and Shambu high and elementary schools, expressing the grave political condition under which Oromo people are living, peacefully presented their demands and resolutions to government authorities in their respective areas. The Woyane regime instead of positively responding to the demands and resolutions of these students, ordered it’s police and security forces to fire live ammunition on them. According to information we have received, in Naqamte town three students, two of them female students, were killed, many others were wounded and over 200 students were detained. In Ambo town two students were killed and many wounded. The ugliest and most brutal incident happened in Shambu town. When students of Shambu high school staged peaceful gathering in their school compound, the Wayane police force opened fire killing five students, three of them female students, wounded 11 and detained more than hundred students. The ugliest part of the crime is that the bodies of the dead students were purposely left in the open for wild beast. Indeed the bodies of two female students killed was found partially eaten by hyenas.
Oromo students all over Oromia are in confrontation with the Wayane regime. Students in Gindabart, Waliso, Gudar, Gimbi, Holata, Mandi, Shashamane, Dodola, Robe, Hasasa and other places have demonstrated their support for the demands for Oromo students in Naqamte, Ambo and Shambu and condemned the brutal act of Woyane and requested the immediate release of detained students. Now, almost all schools in Oromia are being guarded by Wayane security forces. Arbitrary arrest, sever beatings, maltreatment of students, teachers and parents has become the daily experience in Oromia today. A history teacher at Mandi high school was taken from his residence after midnight and was severely beaten until he lost his consciousness. The teacher was taken to Ayira hospital by the help of residents of Mandi town where he is being treated. There is reign of terror and fear in Oromia today. In spite of this, the Oromo students movement for the rights of Oromo people is spreading to all corners of Oromia and our people are openly supporting their children.
The Wayane regime, as usual, is preparing deceptive drama to divert the attention of Oromo people and distort the true political picture in Oromia to get cheap and temporary cover up. It has openly accused Oromo students demands and resolutions as an illegal act and dissident movement. The evidence they say to have for this accusation is that Oromo students were demanding ‘the rights of Oromo people to self-determination to be recognised’ which is according to them the slogan of Oromo Liberation Front. This shows the extent and level of Wayane regime’s desperation and frustration to use an internationally accepted and recognised right as a crime.
The other act of the deceptive drama currently being staged by Wayane is about OLF fighters. The TPLF, which has been consistently denying to recognise the existence of OLF fighters, has now been forced to announce to the public the existence of OLF fighters in western Oromia. However to distort facts on the ground, it is disseminating fabricated propaganda and lies that OLF fighters have surrendered to government forces in an effort to confuse and defuse the political tension mounting in western Oromia. This is nothing but sign of frustration and desperation of the regime.
The TPLF regime ruled the country for the last 11 years by employing such deceptive and cheap manoeuvres. OLF fighters are politically conscious fighters who know why they fight and whom they fight. There are no OLF fighters that are surrendering as the Wayane drama staged alleges. The whole purpose of presenting such a drama at this particular time is to demoralise and deter our people from continuing the popular resistance that is raging in Oromia. It is the nature and character of Wayane to use cheap lies that won’t last for more than few days to be uncovered for diversion of attention. What ever deceptive moves the Wayane takes, it won’t deter the Oromo people from its liberation struggle nor breath life to its dying regime.
Victory to the Oromo People!!
