Actually if you want to use the definition of "Israelite" you are using you would also have to include the Lemba of Azania (S. Africa). They are Black people indistinguishable from those around them like the Xhosa, Zulu, etc., and genetics proves that they are descended from the priestly line of Aaron. They had always said they were Israelites and no one believed them until a visiting lecturer came to do a speech on the Falashas, heard the claims of some Lemba in the audience, and decided to test them. To his surprise, the claims were absolutely true.

To I though you don't have to be literally an Israelite by that definition to be an Israelite. If the Bible stories of what the Israelites went through resonate with your people's experience- oppression and captivity under foreign rulers, whilst one still tries to maintain the integrity of one's culture- then you are spiritually an Israelite.
