dead prez has a very good song where they relate Garvey's principles to the street tribes (gangs) of today. It name "O.G. (Original Garvey)" and its on the CD called "Get Free or Die Trying".
"What is a gang? A gang is an organization, a formulation of riders with a common foundation... I let the sweat drip from my bandana for the blood in my veins... for every crip, we all one and the same... the police is the slobs and the crabs that mob with a badge..." ["slob" is what crips call bloods and "crabs" is what bloods call crips]... good song.
On their first album "Let's Get Free" they talk bout "Red Black and Green instead of gang bandannas".
