This group was highlighted on this thread. http://www.reparationsthecure.org/ I cannot rightly say whether the poster meant to indicate that they were an example of whites working for reparations etc but if this is the case I find it quite laughable. These white groups do not get it. No white group or white person should be collecting funds for this movement. If they really wanted to help and bring about real justice they should work quietly and hand over the funds to black groups. Or better yet seek out black groups headed by informed African people and devote their time, energy and extra funds to them. This, in my opinion, is the right order.
With so many black groups working for reparations what is the use of a white group occupying spotlight, recognition, and public funds, which can just as easily go to black groups? Is it that they feel they can play the superiority complex of ‘helping’ black people to get something? Or that other bleeding heart liberal whites will feel more comfortable giving to a white group than a black one and then feel their consciences are soothed by saying “ Well I contribute to this organization concerned about reparations. I’m not racist”
They can mouth all the words they want but I for one am not buying it. Check out the photo gallery on that same site and see that there is not one black face on what appears to be their management team. Not one. Yet they say in their mission statement that:
“We support and advocate reparations proposals put forward by Black leaders, recognizing that white Americans have no part in deciding what is required to repair and restore the descendants of enslaved Africans individually and collectively, and that these decisions belong to Black people alone.”
YEAH RIGHT!!
