The Freemasons are not one monolithic group, the history of Black masonic lodges in AmeriKKKa is a whole different thing, a lodge is just like a secret club right, well Black people wanted some secret clubs of their own, that's all.
[This is from my limited understanding of the subject, a lot of which I got from a friend of mine who did her anthropology thesis on the Masons.]
