Look, I-man not one to say "stop this racist talk" or to spout rhetoric and scripture, function off symbolism, and chant "one love!", "unity", and basically ignore the root of sufferation. My point is that to talk of solutions to the problems we face is not to be ignorant of the causes.
I know many people come to Rastafari because they see it as a free lunch to wipe away guilt, show they are "progressive", and because the music, symbols, and outlook are so vivid. I know many people are suprised when they come chanting one love to find people doing serious reasoning on the insidious nature of racism and elitism, rather than say "oh great, you grew dreads, lets go smoke the chalice and live in a fantasyworld of egalitarianism and brotherhood." But we need not lose site of our ultimate goals in the process. We need not become bitter and calous and forget that there are those of us who are serious students of the atrocity which has befallen us. We are falling into the same trap as environmental activists: Plenty of people can tell you the causes and problems, but when asked for solutions you are met with blank stares from behind their blond dreads.
