Re: Words of the Wise (the Inconsistency here)
In Response To: Re: Words of the Wise ()

Greetings to all. Give thanks for this reasoning.

Nice article sister Kaya, but let me look closer to it, trying to find the inconsitency here.

THE INTERVIEWER WRITES "...the Dalai Lama himself said one time that he is not worthy to be compared with Jesus. He wrote in one of his books that Jesus is "[a] fully enlightened being."

(NOTICE that 'a' I placed in brakets for emphasis)

HE CONTINUES "...Given that affirmation, I said to him that [if Jesus is fully enlightened then He must have taught the truth about His identity as Son of God, and as Lord and Saviour]....

THEN COMES the interviewer's astonishment for the answer of the Dalai Lama, and the "shown" inconsistency:

HE GOES "...Although the Dalai Lama's reply to my point ... is consistent with Buddhism, it is UTTERLY INCONSISTENT with any ordinary claim that Jesus is [a] "fully enlightened person." ..."

AND THE DRAMA "...The whole matter shows the unseen forces at work in truth telling..."

The only contradiction and the only inconsistency I see here is the FORCED conclusion of the interviewer. He is forcing the conclusion on the reader.

Anyone familiar with the teachings of Buddhism must know that the goal of a Buddhist is to become [a] "fully enlightened person", and that the teachings of Buddhism are intented to provide the means by which ANYONE can achieve that goal.

So what the Dalai Lama is saying is that, while Jesus is [a] "fully enlightened person", most of the people around him was not able to OVERstand that following his teachings and way of life ANYONE may also be.

So there is no contradiction between the Lama's reply, the teachings of Buddhsm and the claim that Jesus is [a] "fully enlightened person".

LOOK, I am not trying to show that Jesus is not the SON of GOD. Far from that. Nor to defend the stand of the Dalai Lama. What I am doing is showing that the only inconsistency here is in the part of the interviewer.

The problem is that this "conclusions" can be and have been used to manipulate a FAITHful believer who does not read between lines.

JAH guides.
