We often call ourselves African-American or African-Caribbean but why not Black-American or Black-Carribean. If we really want to claim Africa as our motherland then why have we not taken responsibility in learning an African language. Why hasn't the teaching of African languages been an important part of alternative education in both the Black communities in America and Carribean? Isn't a language the most important aspect that links a person to a culture or country of origin? In my opinion all Rastas should be able to speak Amharic if you are claiming Ethiopia as your home. It just seems a little hypocritical to claim a country without being able to at least speak the country's language.
