I'm afraid you are still missing one of the major points Ayinde, why is the woman so in love with a desgnation which has been imposed on us by the slavemaster? She could use another term.
I have come up with several alternatives like Congoid, central African, classical African and I even quoted the great scholar's John G. Jackson's alternative 'Ethiopoid', but you and your spouse ignored all my proposals and continued the usage of the vulgair colonial word 'negro'. You have never answered the question why it is so important for your spouse to accept like a dog or a slave a designation which has been imposed on us by the former slavemaster. BECAUSE DOGS AND SLAVES GET A NAME FROM THEIR MASTER, FREE PEOPLE GIVE THEMSELVES A NAME!!!
If you are, as you claim yourself, well-informed about the racist concept 'negro' it surprises me even more that you still propagate the usage of it. As a matter of fact, I am afraid you don't even know (or realise) half of the construction behind the word, otherwise even you would have resented the usage of the word. I don't buy the argument that the woman is using it in context, because she is still upholding a racist colonial terminolgy for very unclear reasons.
One Love!
It's gona take bravery to stop (mental) slavery!
