I'm sorry, I don't feel her explanation is reasonable. I feel that we must free ourselves from designations who the (former) slavemaster has imposed on us. You must draw a strict line, I don't buy the argument that she is referring to a certain type of African, because at the same time she is upholding a desgnation that was imposed on us and bringing confusion on our place in history, our identity but worst of all our conception of selfdetermination. If you cannot even determine your own name, what kind of worthless people are you? Why do you still have to demand on a designation your slavemaster has imposed on you?
I respect Bantu-Kelani as a person who starts (potentially)good reasoning threads, but at the same time she becomes more and more arrogant when people ask her politely to change her terminology, and that's a sad thing. I think we are all hear to learn, and not to impose our arrogance on others.
One Love!
It's gona take bravery to stop (mental) slavery!
