Allright, I think we ourselves must promote new words; it is better to promote new names for ourselves than to maintain a stigma that has been imposed on us by the (former) slavemaster. Because now you are using oppression as an argument to maintain a designation for Black people which symbolizes opression, or downpression (if you prefer that term).
I strongly feel that the liberation of the mind starts with the liberation of your identity (and your name is the epitome, the ultimate expression of your identity), and once you have done that then you can create your own paradigma independent of the white man's, so you can look at the world through your own African eyes. I'm afraid a so called 'negro' will look at the world through the eyes of a 'negro'...you got my point? So I would rather prefer to take the pains to popularize names we ourselves have come up with than to maintain designations who misrepresent us and have been imposed on us by the white slavemaster.
One Love!
It's gona take bravery to stop (mental) slavery!
