(Sigh). Here we go again…
“I am a little confused as to why light skin black Rastas cannot 'lead' Rastafari”
Obviously you are confused because you appear not to have been reading the issues critically. Our assertion was that light skinned Africans/blacks cannot rightfully lead BLACK MOVEMENTS. We did not say Rastafari. Is Rastafari your only definition of a BLACK MOVEMENT?
“nor does it seem that white Rastafari can have their say”
We have also been firm about ALL being able to CONTRIBUTE and engage in critical discussions of African issues. We specified that they do not however have the right EXPERIENCE with the issues to effectively be able to lead BLACK MOVEMENTS. Rootsie’s role is a clear example of this.
“but non-Rastafari can moderate this forum just because they are black?”
Finally, we have defined Rasta, as we believe it to be and we live by the definition. That is our right as people. As for our right as Moderators, we run the forum. Thus as I said before it is for the posters to decide whether they wish to participate in a forum run by people who seek a broader definition of Rastafari. That is your choice. Our belief is ours. Do not try to take the issues out of context.
Africa speaks, Rasta speaks and Rastafari speaks AS ONE.
