First off, our position on Rasta has been made clear from the time we assumed management of this board and we have repeatedly stated our intention to develop conscious discussions on African, Rasta and Rastafari issues. Thus it is for the posters to decide to come to a site with this focus and determine whether they want to be a part of a board that does not blindly share their beliefs and ideologies to the letter. We are free to set our own standards and they are clearly defined. Please point out to me where ANY moderator or administrator has stated what anyone should believe or where it has been stated that Selassie should be ‘removed’ from Rastafari. That is a ludicrous statement and an attempt to raise emotional hackles to get a reaction. Evidently you have not read either Rootsie’s original post, the article on her site that she quoted from, or any of the subsequent posts that have explained the different interpretations of Rasta. In none of these did anyone impute that anyone should change their interpretations of Rastafari.

You also state:

I find it VERY interesting that you seem to have a problem with this threefold vision since both Rastafari and Rasta have both been firmly situated in African issues. Why are you so unwilling for the site to have an African focus? Would you prefer to conveniently focus on the spiritual aspect of Rastafari and not the social aspect, which seeks to correct earthly imbalances?

You then state

Again if you would revisit the many posts on this issue and read Rootsie’s article carefully you will see that both Rootsie and the site’s moderators have repeatedly stated that Rastafari is NOT a one-love thing. An ideal example of this is quoted from an article by Rootsie herself :

“What we see here all the time is ones who come to tell us all that 'JAH has no colour', that 'Rasta means One Love', that race does not matter. And yet they say they are 'black on the inside'.
These same people are most often unwilling to listen and learn from blacks, to study history, or to engage in their own lives the struggle to dismantle this system, instead believing that to 'chant down Babylon' all one has to do is stop combing and take up some exterior trappings and assume a victim mentality in relation to the system, saying, 'see how they persecute me for my beliefs. for my ganja. Now I am one of the sufferahs too.' “

Again I ask, where is the position articulated that Rasta is simply about one love?
As I stated before, many have come to this site feeling they can sit back and be applauded for their faith. This is about critical reasoning and obviously opinions will differ. People have stated their opinions and beliefs. Ones with differing opinions have not asked anyone to change thier beliefs yet they have been attacked by several posters for simply articulating them. If you wish to get emotional you are free to do so. But do not willfully attempt to distort the issue and encourage emotional instead of critical responses.
