i do not think that anyone is attacking rootsie.
i do think that many RASTAFAR I are taking issue with the following statement that she made in one of her articles.

from rootsie's article:

"Many Afrocentric Rastas find themselves in a different relation with the figure of 'Selassie I' than when they first began their Rasta journey. Worshiping Selassie as the One God either becomes impossible for them, or they view this metaphorically, or they engage in vigorous rationalizations and mental acrobatics, for the sake of Rasta unity. It is possible that the symbol of Selassie will fade away altogether from Rasta, viewed as something that made sense for its time, but is no longer helpful. There are many reasons why Rastas may come to the view that the worship of Selassie is outmoded."

i did go and read the whole article. there are many things in it that i do not site. but the previous statement is the one that i, a rasta wo-man, have the biggest problem with. when one and ones write articles and put them out there for the general populice to read, they are always aware that there will be points in said article that some do not agree with. when one and ones come together to reason about the article that is exactly what happens..........reasoning.
i also feel that for someone such as rootsie to claim that she overstands rastafar I and has made that trod in the faith and livity herself.....but then to say that HIM is viewed metaphorically and rationalized and is outmoded is a travesty to me. it has nothing to do with roosie as an individual hue-man being persay....but i personally take issue with the statement in its fullness. one and ones CANNOT say they follow the path of RASTAFAR I and not site HIM as the Living GOD.......seen? they are NOT RASTA if they do not. and i am not saying that rootsie is a rasta or is not........i do not know her. but anyone i know that Sites HIM and trods the path would take serious issue with that particular statement. seen?

rasta and reasoning is not always sugar coated peace and love and lets smoke a skliff.......rasta is about truth and rights and fighting down all black and white oppressors and justice and fire and thunder, earthquake and lighting.....seen?
is not a hippie movement
it is RASTAFAR I
