Re: Question: Guns and Violence
In Response To: Question: Guns and Violence ()

Greetings Diyouth,

and all who reason here...

apologies for not being able to respond to your question sooner, my life has been through probably the most cataclysmic changes that it ever has, in the shortest period of time.. but by the grace of Jah, i&i am here again to reason.

Give thanks.

I confess to knowing nothing about how to root out the violence that seems to sit in so many of our souls. But shooting, that is a practical problem.

The way that I see it there are already too many guns out there in most cultures to realistically gt rid of them in the short term. I think that the majority of people in most places honestly want to see gun related violence end.

So...

Given that the political will can be made to manifest (as politicians LOVE to do what the electors want) I believe that the best bet would be to fundamentally choke off the supply of ammunition. A gun without bullets is just a very inefficient club. Sure it would take time, but I believe that it would be easier to control access to ammunition than it is to control guns.

People would have stockpiles, but bullets are a one use only commodity, with time and patience, there would be very few of them left, not to mention that people would no longer be able to practice the art of shooting, as it would use up dwindling stocks.

Anyway,

just another one of my overly simplistic ideas...

love and life (always)
paul
