Greetings Ancient Youth
I fully feel you on this topic. I had a business in the Michgan area as a black woman, and my theme and vison was high jacked by whites with more money, who ultimately bought from my vendors making my products less unique. Ultimately the market for what I had brought to the area bacame over saturated and no one could make a living doing what one had started doing. It took about five years befroe I had to close. What I learned thoug is that your ideas come from a never ending source. You should take the imitation as flattery and go back to the source of your creativity. If you have to expand upon your theme, you could be the Ancient Youths, the Original Ancient Youth, Old Boy, you see what I am saying? This is an opportunity for you to see how creative you can really be in a globalized free market economy. The sad reality is that even a religous movement like Rastafarianism is not immune to the laws of supply and demand. Remember your true purpose and that you are who you are, not what you do for a living. Copywrite or no, I don't think you will have much recourse because it would cost so much to fight over this, it would hardly be worth it. Unless this guy is the next Bob Marley, I wouldn't worry about it. I am in law school and an arts management person, and all I can tell you is to work to have superior music with a lot of individual personality to stand for who you are. Then your name will not especially matter. We know Prince when we hear him whether he's a symbol or not. If you can possibly do it, try to recall your state of mind before you learned this news, just for your own peace of mind. Stay strong, focused and productive.
Peace, Love and Courage
